Sustaining Wellness for An Improved Health Overall During Quarantine

October 19, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Last week I had the pleasure of being a guest on the Are You Ready to Mingle Podcast where we talked about the importance of sustaining a wellness routine in order to be in the best shape of your life. Not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually as well.

I felt this was such an important topic to talk about for two main reasons.

One, World Mental Health Day was October 10TH and both Robyn and I wanted to honor that day. Two, because a lot of us are still trying to figure out how to navigate through the pandemic with healthy habits that are not going to push us back from our goals.

Believe it or not even though we have been in quarantine for about roughly 6-9 months now, there are still a lot of people trying to figure out how to sustain their wellness so that they are doing the best they can for their overall health. There’s no shame in this game mainly because this is a whole new lifestyle that a lot of us have been forced to take on so suddenly.

When the pandemic hit, we didn’t have enough time or resources to really make sure that we were prepared to stay at home for an extended amount of time. We weren’t really sure how long we were going to have to stay at home, how long businesses were going to be closed off to the public, and were just taking everything one day at a time.

Every month there seemed to be new information being released about the virus, and new regulations being put in place in order to keep everyone safe, and this made preparing for an extended stay at home even harder. Ultimately the result ended up being that we were required to stay at home and wear masks out in public until further notice.

When this happened, I think it’s safe to say that everyone either panicked or became very frustrated, but really, we all felt extremely unprepared and unsure how to navigate through the pandemic in quarantine for another who knows how many more months. As a result of these emotions people have been struggling even more with finding activities and shifting their lifestyle to keep their health in the best shape possible overall.

Well that’s all about to change if you haven’t already made the necessary changes. I too, like most families and individuals, have been having a hard time adjusting to life at home with my entire family. My goals have shifted, there have been times when they seem impossible to work towards, and I have even noticed changes in my overall health.

However, I have been getting back on track to getting where I started at the beginning of this year before the pandemic took over our lives. I’m going to share with you some tips on how you can sustain your wellness practices for an improved health overall. [Read more…]

5 Ways A Coach Can Help You Reach Higher Personal Development

September 27, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Have you ever thought about hiring a coach to help you achieve your goals? Whether it’s a health coach, personal trainer coach, or even a life coach. Has the thought ever crossed your mind? Do you understand what a coach is and how they can make a positive difference in your life?

I’ll be honest. Five years ago, if you would have mentioned the word coach to me, I would not have a single clue in the world what you were talking about. At the time when I heard the word “coach” I immediately thought of sports.

Football. Basketball. Soccer. Baseball. Track and field and so much more.

I would have never thought the word “coach” could be applied in any other sense. Turns out that it can, and coaching can mean so much more than training someone to become better at something. The type of coaching I’m referring is the kind that not only helps you become better at something but, can also help you transform your life in significant ways.

The field of coaching is still relatively new to the world. So, while there have been many strides made in this field, there is also still a lot that is unknown. It seems like every day there is a new field and type of coach that is being discovered, and they all have their own way of providing services to others.

It’s a fast-moving business that has a lot of significant benefits to those who seek professional coaching. I want to help you better understand what coaching is and is not, as well as provide you with my top 5 ways a coach can help you reach your goals through higher personal development.

So, let’s get into it! [Read more…]

9 Tips to Take Better Care of Yourself

September 14, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Do you understand the importance of taking care of yourself? The reason why in order for us to give our best to those we love we must ensure we are doing the same for ourselves? Do you know what it means to take care of yourself?

I’ve been guilty of this for years and honestly, I’m tired of feeling this way!

I’m tired of feeling as though I’m giving so much more of myself to others, and very little to myself. I’m tired of feeling like I’m not appreciated for everything that I do, especially when I know it’s my own vices speaking to me. I’m tired of routinely doing all of the right things just to feel as though everything else is falling apart.

I’m tired of believing I’m not enough, and not giving myself enough room to grow into the best version of myself. I’m so tired of circling the drain of hopelessness, but I can’t seem to overcome this feeling no matter what I do.

Does this sound like you? Believe it or not this was me not too long ago. For years I carried this type of mindset with me everywhere I went and with everything I did. No matter how hard I tried I struggled severely with believing that I was more than enough as an individual to conquer the world on my own terms.

It wasn’t until I made the commitment to take better care of myself when this mindset began to change. Once I changed this mindset the whole world opened its doors for me, and once I took off running, I never stopped.

If you carry this kind of mindset with you currently it’s time to break free of the chains holding you back from growing into your full potential. How do we break free of this torture mindset? By taking better care of ourselves.

I’ve got 9 tips to help you get the done job! [Read more…]

Healthy Life Habits to Replace Your Bad Life Habits

August 30, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Do you track your habits? Both the good and bad. Are you aware of the many different ways our habits may be impacting us? Not just with our goals but also through our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health as well.

Well if you’re someone who tends to pay more attention to everything that’s going right in your life, and pay less attention to everything that is going wrong, I’ve got news for you. You’re cheating yourself out of reaching your full potential!

When we choose to only acknowledge all the good, we lose sight of all the opportunities to change the bad. When this happens, we become consumed with putting all our energy and focus into everything that is working in our favor. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, choosing to not fix what is wrong can hurt us in the long run.

The scary thing about this is that we never know when or in what way.

This way of thinking, reacting or responding, and way of living are all a part of the habits we have developed as a way to get through our days. In some cases, they can even be used as defense mechanisms. Some can be good and some can be bad. The good habits are what will help us reach our full potential. The bad habits are what will constantly hold us back.

How do we overcome our bad habits so that our good ones can prevail? By replacing the bad life ones with healthy life habits. Here’s are some common bad life habits that we all have that are holding us back in life, as well as some healthier ones we can replace them with. [Read more…]

The Importance of Self-Care and Why Everyone Should Do It

August 10, 2020 by Kimora Chanel

Do you practice self-care often? Do you understand the importance of self-care?

Lately it seems like self-care is a trend that everyone is doing and encouraging others to do as a means to just be a part of something cool. While I love self-care and highly encourage everyone to practice it daily, I also understand that it’s not a trend. Self-care isn’t something that you just pick up out of the blue, stick with for a while until it’s no longer serving you, and then drop like it’s nothing.

Oh no honey. Self-care is so much more than that!

Self-care is the act of effectively taking care of your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It’s the process of doing the necessary inner work in order to allow yourself to grow into your full potential. While the majority of self-care is inner work, that’s not all that self-care is.

Self-care is also the skill to be able to reset and center yourself. It’s the ability to be able to easily call forth a skill or ability to regulate your mood and/or thoughts. Essentially self-care is the awareness you have of yourself and the ability to use that awareness in ways that can help you give yourself what it needs in order to regulate yourself.

There’s a constant debate about what self-care is and what it’s not. However, there are many different ways to engage in self-care despite what others have to say about it. The most important thing to know about self-care is that it’s a lot of work, but it’s necessary work if you want to be the best version of yourself.

I’m going to share with you some of the many reasons why practicing self-care is important, as well as some self-care activities that you can do. [Read more…]
