I love mindfulness. It is such an important area of personal development that honestly is not talked about enough. I understand completely why that is the case. It’s because a lot of people do not know what mindfulness is, let alone how to identify it. Which of course means that they have no knowledge what so ever about how to engage in it, or even the many different benefits of engaging in mindfulness.
Before we dive any further into this post, I want to provide you with a definition of what mindfulness is.
Mindfulness is the mental state of being conscious and aware of something by focusing your attention on the present moment. An important component to engaging in mindfulness is being aware and accepting of your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations completely free of judgement.
Sounds like a lot and that is because it is! Mindfulness is not something that you can easily accomplish overnight. It requires a great deal of commitment, dedication, and consistency to reach a state of being mindful 24/7. I have been practicing mindfulness for years, and mainly because of my inconsistency with the craft, I’m still working towards a point where I am just mindful all the time.
