The end of the year is finally upon us and that means it’s time to start thinking about goals we want to set and achieve for the new year. I know traditionally this doesn’t happen until the very first day of the new year, but I’m choosing to start now. I think you should too and here’s why.
I’m a firm believer in the power of manifestation, and I believe that manifesting something great for yourself doesn’t happen overnight. Instead, it’s a habit and a routine that you have to create for yourself, and practice consistently in order for it to become part of your daily routine.
In other words, it’s better to start manifesting those positive life changes for yourself now, than to wait until the new year to do so. That way, when the new year comes around, the habit has already been made, and you can actually focus on putting the necessary steps in motion to work towards those goals that you want to achieve in the new year. The best part is that you began manifesting the success of those goals the month/year before.
Catch my drift? If not let me put it this way.
There are 10 positive habits that you should consider implementing into your life for the new year. These positive habits are sure to change your life for the better, by not only giving you the confidence to start living your best life, but to also continue to manifest all your greatness in the new year and the years to come after. With the combination of manifestation and these 10 positive habits, you’re sure to successfully achieve all your goals no matter how big or small they may be.

Create a morning and night routine
Routines are so essential for changing your life for the better. They help you stay on track with all your life goals, plus they provide order and organization no matter how busy your lifestyle may be. Something that I have found to be very helpful is having a morning and nighttime routine.
I have certain rituals that I swear by only for the morning, and a different set that I do only for the nighttime. This helps me to stay balanced, maintain order and organization in my life, and put out as well as take in different energy levels at different times throughout the day.
It’s important to have a morning routine because this will help set the tone for your day. While nothing is always guaranteed to go as planned, having specific rituals that you practice in the morning will have a direct impact on your emotions and thought process for the day. Same with the nighttime. You want to have a routine in place that will help you unwind, relax, and have time to be able to process and reflect on everything that happened in the day. A nighttime will also give you something to look forward to at the end of your day, as well as help you get quality sleep at night.

Exercise daily
This is extremely important. Not only are you making your physical health a priority, but you’re also caring for your mental and emotional health as well. A lot of people think that exercise is all about losing weight or transforming your body in some way. However, that’s not always the case. A big part of exercise is to simply make your health a priority in your life.
There are a ton of reasons why people exercise, but exercising doesn’t have to only be for the physical benefits. You can literally exercise as a means to improve your quality of life.
In order to achieve this, you just need to do something good for your body every day. This doesn’t mean you have to spend hours in the gym. You can literally do a quick PIIT workout at home in only 28 minutes, and feel your quality of life begin to improve instantly. If you’re not familiar with a PIIT workout here’s what it is.
PIIT is a Pilates Intense Interval Training program designed by Cassey Ho to help you become your fittest self in just 28 minutes! I’ve been doing Cassey’s PIIT28 program for about 3 years now, and what I love about this program is the fact that it doesn’t focus specifically on losing weight. Instead, this program focuses on strengthening your body and building your confidence at the same time, so that you can unconditionally love the skin you’re in.
I’ll admit this program will challenge you physically, but what you get out of it is so worth it. The best part is that there are three different levels of the PIIT workout program for all fitness levels. Simply click this link to check out the PIIT28 program and learn more.

Learn how to meditate
If there is anything you should practice consistently in the new year it’s mediation. Meditation is a great practice that allows you to be able to learn how to slow down in order to live in the present moment. There are many positive benefits to practicing meditation daily, such as developing mindfulness skills, and training yourself to be more aware of your surroundings. Meditation is also great for improving your quality of life, improving your mental health, and regulating your emotions.
This is also a great time to engage in manifestation. All you need is 5 minutes a day (more if you like). Just simply focus all your energy and attention on everything that is happening in the present moment. This includes sounds that you hear, the rhythm of your breathing, even the thoughts that are floating around in your head. Notice them and accept them as they are.
Don’t come out of the meditative state until you feel you are emotionally ready to return, or your meditation time is up.

Keep a journal
Journaling is a great way to release pent up emotions, reflect on your day/life, and keep track of all your goals. It’s also a great way to continue manifesting great things for your life. This is a positive habit that is easy to take up. All you literally need is a journal or notebook, and time to be able to be alone and just write.
The best part is that you can literally write about anything and everything that comes to your mind. This includes things that you are looking forward, or important life topics that are on your mind. You can even use your journal as a source to keep track of your progress for something that matters to you. Such as how often you engage in self-care, or where you are on your fitness journey.

Think positive thoughts
The mind is such a powerful thing. This is why it’s important to practice manifesting great things for your life. Literally the things you think influence your actions, which influences the kinds of life experiences that you have. If you tend to only think negative thoughts you may notice that you often feel unhappy or unfulfilled with your life choices. The same goes for positive thoughts. If you think positive all the time, you may notice that you are very happy and satisfied with your life choices.
Your thoughts are a result of what you make of your life. The more positive you are the more likely you will live a life that aligns with all the things you want to achieve. Thinking positive helps to manifest positive things for your life. You are also training yourself to think positive thoughts more often than negative ones, which will result in positive actions, which will allow for your manifestations to come true.

Set realistic goals
It’s important to set goals that are realistic, having meaning, and that you know with hard work you will be able to achieve. For example, you don’t want to set a goal to become vegan if you’re not willing to give up a lot of foods that are not considered vegan-friendly. It’s not realistic for your personal preferences which means it’s a goal that you are more than likely not going to achieve.
Instead set goals that are a part of your overall vision for your life. If you want to adopt a healthy lifestyle, set goals that will help you get to that point. This may include goals such as eating a certain amount of fruit each day, drinking a certain amount of water in a day, and maybe even exercising a certain number of times each week. Goals like these are very clear and specific and they relate to the bigger picture you envision for yourself, which means you are more likely to stick with them.

Practice gratitude daily
This is extremely important. Practicing gratitude is simply giving thanks for the blessing that are a part of your life. This includes all things big and small. You can be grateful for the job that you have, your family, the way you were raised, the type of life you have been able to build for yourself, and so much more. Giving thanks is not something that only has to happen once a year.
Instead give thanks daily. Doing so will change your life for the better. It’s like a ripple effect of positivity and good vibes. The more you practice gratitude the more good karma will come your way.

Wake up earlier
Waking up earlier than I use to has allowed me to be able to do numerous things uninterrupted. This includes meditating, getting a head start on projects for school, preparing lunch in advance, and of course getting in my exercise for the day. While waking up earlier than what you normally do may not be something you want to do, it can be very beneficial.
You may just discover that there are tons of things that you are able to do that you don’t necessarily have the time to do throughout the day. Those who wake up earlier are also more productive during the day than those who don’t. I believe this is because they’re working ahead of schedule and aren’t spending the day playing catch up.

Learn how to be more productive with your time
Productivity is a hard thing to accomplish. This is mainly because there are so many distractions throughout the day that prevent us from focusing on the task at hand. For the new year make a commitment to be more productive with your time. Being more productive with your time can help you achieve so many things.
It has helped me be able to:
- Attend graduate school with a lot less stress than I probably would experience
- Work on growing my blog
- Focus on passion projects
- Write a book
And much more.
In other words, strive to get more work done during the day, so that you don’t ever feel as though you are falling behind. However, the trick is to work smarter not harder. If you want to learn more about how to be productive with your time, Michelle at Making Sense of Cents has written a great post about how to be more productive with your time. This post is filled with tons of ways that you can use your time more wisely to be more productive during the day.

Exude positivity
Perhaps the one thing that you should be sure to practice in the new year if you don’t practice anything else on this list, is being positive. We all tend to be our biggest critics, and while that may help some of us become better versions of ourselves, the reality is that being hard on ourselves does nothing for our growth in the moment.
Focusing on the negative all the time, or the things that didn’t go right only draws attention to all the imperfect parts of our life. This allows for less time to focus on everything that is going right, and to celebrate the things in life that matter the most. We fix this by practicing positivity.
This is something as simple as smiling more than you frown, choosing your battles wisely, and choosing to put out more positivity in the world than negativity. This not only greatly impacts your life, but it can also impact the lives of others. People appreciate those who always choose to see the brighter side of everything.
Not to mention that it’s also a hell of a lot easer to be happy and positive than it is to be upset and negative all the time.
