It’s finally Fall!!!
I love the Fall! It is easily my favorite season ever! Not only because of the leaves changing colors, the crisp cold air (even though it’s not great for my asthma), the warm sweaters, the cozy boots, the prefect excuse to start drinking hot chocolate before the wintertime, or even all the movies that I get to cuddle up in my bed every night and watch. It’s my favorite season mainly because my favorite holiday is finally on the horizon!
That’s right, I’m talking about Halloween!
I absolutely love Halloween, always have and always will. I love the spooks, the scares, the movies, the candy even though I tend to only eat the snicker bars (the best candy ever), the dark nights and the greyish mornings. I love everything about it and I’m so happy that October is on the way.
In honor of preparing for my favorite holiday during my favorite month and my favorite time of year, I’ve put together a fun little Halloween Fitness Challenge for you. However, beware that this isn’t just any ol’ fitness challenge. Oh no. It’s a Halloween themed fitness challenge where every Sunday there will be a pumpkin challenge workout for you to complete.
It’s going to be so fun!
And don’t worry this challenge is completely beginner friendly, so no matter what your workout level may be, you too can take part in this challenge.
So, what is the pumpkin workout? Don’t worry I’m going to let you know exactly what it is. But first, I’ve got some Halloween tips to help you stay healthy and fit this October. Check them out below!

Halloween Health Tips
Tip #1: Get out and be active
If you are anything like my mom chances are you try to avoid the cold whenever possible. While I will not pretend like that is not my number one mission in life when the winter comes, this most certainly is the last thing that I want to do in the Fall! Yes, the air may be a little bit colder but instead of avoiding it just bundle up. Grab a sweater, a cute hat, gloves if you want them, and get out and be active!
Here are a few activities perfect for Fall that you can do:
- Go pumpkin picking
- Go to a corn maze
- Go for a hike
- Go apple picking
- Go to a haunted house
Tip #2: Eat in moderation
I get it, it’s the Fall and we all want to be in on all the fun. Well guess what, just because you have fitness goals doesn’t mean that you can’t partake in all the fun. Instead of chowing down on all that candy that you may be buying for the cute trick or treaters, or maybe for yourself, eat your Halloween sweets in moderation. That means whatever you choose to eat that is outside of your regular diet, don’t binge it, take your time and enjoy this special treat to yourself by maybe having one piece of candy a week, or one slice of pie a day.
Here are a few sweet foods perfect for Fall that you can eat:
- Pumpkin pie
- Apple pie
- Sweet potato pie
- Halloween themed cookies
- Brownies

Tip #3: Work hard and play harder
What really makes this time of year the best is all the movies that you get to watch during the whole month of October. What I like to do is work hard and play harder by spending the night just watching some of my favorite Halloween movies. Why? Because it’s important that we allow our bodies to rest after a long and active day. So usually this will look like me getting up in the morning and working out, completing whatever responsibilities I may have for the day, and coming home to just watch movies until I fall asleep at night. I love it, it’s literally one of the best things to do!
Here are a few of the best movies to watch this October:
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- It Chapter one and two
- Monster House
- Hocus Pocus
- Casper

Tip #4: Get the kids involved
Let’s be honest, this holiday isn’t just for the adults but the kids as well. What I love to do is get my niece and nephew excited about the big day by getting them involved with all my holiday planning. So, whether this is buying and/or making Halloween decorations for the house, going to buy pumpkins and then carving or decorating them for our porch, going shopping for fun movies to watch every day of the month, or even going trick or treating with them, I love to have them involved.
Here are a few fun activities to involve your kids:
- Carve a pumpkin
- Collect colorful leaves and then frame them
- Design a Halloween wreath
- Bake Halloween themed cookies together
- Plan a fun Halloween party
Tip #5: Have fun!
This is the most important tip of all! Just because it’s Halloween doesn’t mean we just forget all about our health and wellness goals, but that doesn’t mean we also deprive ourselves of having fun. Instead, there needs to be a balance. Do what you got to do to ensure you are staying on top of all your goals, but also make sure that you are having fun in the process. That’s why I created this Halloween Pumpkin Fitness Challenge for you. I wanted to combine the importance of working out and taking care of yourself with the joy of having fun.
In this workout you may notice a few fun little friends of mines pop up and challenge you with a workout to do. If so, don’t be frighten just go along with it. It’s all in good fun!
