“You control your day. You have 24 hours. What will you do with it?” – Lily Singh, Girl CEO
This past week I took some time to reflect on how far I’ve come in achieving my biggest dream and number one goal in life so far. My biggest dream is to become a very successful actress, starring in various movies, TV shows, and even someday creating, directing, and producing my own content. My number one goal right now is to graduate with my Doctoral degree and open up my own Wellness Coaching practice. Now this isn’t all that I dream or intend to accomplish in my lifetime. My list of dreams and goals go on and on. However, these are my two biggest dreams and goals that are fueling my fire right now.
In taking some time to reflect on how far I’ve come in achieving this dream/goal, I quickly realized that I haven’t made huge strides. I’m still living in my hometown with my parents, attending school online, and still dreaming of the day when I will achieve everything I intend to achieve in life. I’ve made big enough strides where I can honestly say that I’m getting somewhere with reaching my dreams/goals, but not nearly as far as I thought and had hoped that I would be when I was 6-years-old.
I’ll admit, at times when I think about this it does hurt and sadden me. However, I am always quick to remind myself that everything happens when it’s supposed to happen for a reason.
I’m a firm believer in the idea that we can’t compare our personal journeys to the journey of some else simply because we’re taking a much different path in life. We’re taking those different paths for very specific reasons. So how can we compare something so meaningful and personal like that to a journey or a story that belongs to someone else?
We can’t. No matter how hurt we may feel that someone is further along on their journey than we are, or how much success we may believe they have achieved compared to the level of success we have achieved thus far, we can’t compare our own personal growth to the growth of others. All we’re doing in the end is robbing ourselves of happiness, inspiration, and motivation. We’re not perfect so of course there will be moments when we find ourselves slipping up and playing the comparison game, but it’s so important to allow yourself to have more moments when you’re not comparing your success to the success of everyone else.
This ensures our happiness.
We each embark on our own personal journey which has a personal meaning and purpose for us in the end. This is why we can’t waste our time comparing our lives, our stories, and our success with the lives, stories, and success of others. The bottom line is that if we want something we have to be determined enough to go out and get it. We have to be confident enough in our ability to achieve everything that we want in life, if living a fulfilled life is something that we truly want.
We can’t just sit around and wait for someone to make things happen for us. We have to make things happen for ourselves. We have to learn how to be our own superhero, how to embrace that, and how to proudly wear that level of confidence on our sleeves. By no means is it an easy task, but it is very much doable.
Here are 10 ways you can boost your level of confidence to ensure that you achieve everything you intend to achieve in life.

- Put on your superhero cape every morning
Sometimes it can be hard to wake up every morning ready to take on the day. I know this can be hard because I’ve been there and find myself in this headspace every now and then. However, the key to pushing yourself closer to achieving your dreams and goals is to wake up every morning with the intention to seize the day. I just recently purchased the book Girl CEO and I am absolutely in love with it! It’s filled with priceless advice from trailblazing women in the industry across many different platforms (YouTube, Film and Television, etc.).
This book can and will serve as the perfect start to your day. With the inspiring messages written on every single page, it’s the perfect pick me up to help you greet every morning with the intention to just make the most out of your day.
- Think like a superhero would
I believe the key to starting off every morning and making the most out of every day is to put yourself in the right mindset. This means doing whatever you need to do in order to put yourself in the position mentally and emotionally to tackle the day with positive intentions. So maybe you need to meditate first thing in the morning, or eat a hearty breakfast, or perhaps cuddle with your significant other or children for 10 minutes before starting your day. whatever it may be take the time to really let yourself naturally build up the confidence to own the day.
- Train like a superhero
It’s important to look after your health and wellness on a daily basis. This too can give you the confidence and motivation to continue to reach for your dreams and goals. Consistently training your mind, body, and soul to be the best version of yourself that you can possibly be will always allow you to have room to continue to grow. There will never be a limit on how far in life you can go, on the number of things you can achieve, and the number of dreams and goals you can create with the intention to achieve. Stay in a positive and healthy mindset and your future self will thank you for all the things you will accomplish along the way.
- Don’t be afraid to save the day
A big reason why we stop ourselves from reaching for our dreams and goals is because of fear. We fear that we’ll never reach them, and that the slightest attempt towards achieving them will automatically lead to failure. That fear is what paralyzes us from moving forward. Don’t let fear get the best of you. I know that’s easier said than done but you can’t let fear have the power. When you do you are giving away your determination and motivation to live your life the way that you envision it. So instead of giving into fear face your fears head on. Face your fears and live the life you envision for yourself every single day.
- Know the difference between being on the clock and off the clock
A lot of the time we trick ourselves into thinking that in order to works towards our dreams and goals we have to constantly be working towards them. That is not the case. If anything, it’s completely exhausting. Yes, it’s true that you have to put in hard work coupled with commitment and dedication if you want to achieve something, but you don’t have to do this for every 24 hours that exist in the day. It’s important to give yourself time away from your dreams and goals to breathe, relax, and reflect. You don’t want to spend all day and night working towards them, unless your goal is to drive yourself crazy. Instead delegate your time wisely and watch great things blossom as a result of doing so.

- Know the people who are your enemy and the ones who are not
Surround yourself with people who are going to support you unconditionally in chasing after your dreams and achieving all of your goals. It’s important to have a team that is going to give you the motivation you need to hold on tight to your dreams and goals because they are going to be the people who will hold you accountable when you’re ready to turn in the towel. It takes hard work and a lot of guts to proudly and confidently chase after your dreams and goals. Naturally there will be moments when you will want to give up but you can’t, and these are going to be the people who ensure that you don’t.
- Give yourself some much needed downtime
In addition to knowing when you should and should not be working towards your dreams and goals, it’s important to give yourself a day dedicated to caring for yourself. On days like these you should engage in some form of self-care. Whether that’s treating yourself to a spa day, grabbing lunch with your best friends, or hosting an Avengers themed movie night at your house where you and your best friends get together to watch the new Avengers Infinity War movie, do something that is relaxing and fun for you. Engaging in self-care helps you look after yourself mentally, emotionally, and physically. It increases your confidence, recharges your motivation, and helps you put your best foot forward when you’re ready to get back in the game.
- Invest in your hobbies
Don’t be afraid to have hobbies outside of your biggest dreams and goals. It’s important to have hobbies that don’t always revolve around your dreams and goals because it takes away the pressure of having to succeed at achieving those dreams and goals. Your hobbies can very much be self-care activities that you genuinely enjoy engaging in, or they can be activities that are not related to self-care. Whatever your poison just be sure to have activities that can serve as the perfect distraction for what your overall intentions in life are. It’s good to take a break and “slack off” every once in a while.
- Don’t be afraid to take the cape off
Every superhero needs time to be a part of the “real world” which means that you need time to be a part of the real world too. Don’t be afraid to live a life outside of the world that you aspire to be a part of. Batman does it, as does Superman, so naturally you are able to do it too. You have to keep in mind that no matter how many hours of pure dedication and hard work you put into reaching your dreams and goals, they will not be achieved over night. Overnight success is a very rare thing in this world and you have to approach your dreams and goals with the possibility that you will not be an overnight success. Take the cape off and dedicate valuable time to your life outside of your dreams and goals. Relax and recharge.
- Find the perfect side kick
At the end of the day every superhero is going to need someone who can support them emotionally, that means you will too. Having that emotional support will take away a lot of pressure to continue to go above and beyond when you’ve already given your all. It’s can be exhausting when you’re constantly putting in a lot of hours towards something that is very meaningful to you. To ensure that you don’t lose your passion and drive for your dreams and goals you need to seek out that emotional support at the end of every day. Plus, having that emotional support can help recharge your energy so that you can greet the next day ready to put your cape back on.
It takes guts to live a life that is meaningful and fulfilling to you. The bravest people in this world are those who are not afraid achieve their dreams and goals no matter how big or small they may be. They have the confidence, determination, and motivation needed to continue to put one foot in front of the other until they have achieved all that they have set out to achieve.
“There’s this idea that people have to wish and hope for their dreams, but I want to bring back the art of working for them.” -Lily Singh, Girl CEO
Until next time love bugs. Stay strong, stay determined, stay happy. Be your own superhero 😊.
-Xo
