Have you ever had one of those days where you literally have nothing to do? These days usually look like look you waking up in the morning, with nothing of importance to do on the agenda, and for some odd reason you can’t find anything to do with all that free time. Well, I’ve had plenty of days like that. In fact, I’m a little embarrassed (not really) to admit that I have had weeks like that. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes days and weeks where you have no responsibilities to attend to at all, can be some of the best days and weeks you will ever have!
Hi my name is Kimora and most days I don’t feel like doing anything (in my Bruno Mars voice).
Well it may be less so the fact that I don’t feel like doing anything, and more so the fact that I don’t have anything to do! You read that right, I don’t have anything to do. Or maybe I do and I just don’t want to do any of those things? Actually, to be more precise, I could find things to do that are not scheduled to be done, but if I’m being honest I’m too damn lazy for all that. After all the point of laziness is to be lazy!
Now I know what you’re thinking, there is always something to do. I’ll admit that there may be some truth to that, but I’m going to drop an even bigger truth bomb on you. Sometimes there is literally nothing for you to do throughout the day! Literally!
When I was in high school, I would have taken pride in nothing having anything to do for a day. I would have more than likely been in my bed with the blankets up to my chest, cuddling my softest and biggest pillow, with a hot cup of tea on my night stand, and the biggest bowl of Kettle Popcorn I could find. All of this would have been in preparation for a marathon of watching The Secret Life of The American Teenager or Pretty Little Liars. However, this isn’t high school anymore.
Yes, I still find the time to relax by staying in bed all day binge watching my favorite TV shows (it’s one of my favorite pastimes), but I also find it harder in my life now to be that chill for an entire day. It just seems like the busier my life becomes the more active I feel like I need to be on days like these. Even when I literally have nothing to do and therefore have no reason to be active.
…So, in honor of days when you have nothing else in the entire world to do, I’m serving you up with…
12 Things to Do When You Literally Have Nothing Else to Do:
1. Take a shower.
…Not only is hygiene important, but I have also found it to be a great way to clear my mind and regain focus.
2. Go for a walk.
…Exercise is very important! While it’s fun to lay around all day and be a couch potato the reality is, it’s just not healthy to do it all the time.
3. Meal prep.
…I’ll admit, I’m not a master at meal prepping. In fact, I have failed to do it since committing to doing it, every day of the week. But when you have nothing else to do, why not give it a go?
4. Complain to your best friend about your life.
…Don’t try to pretend that nothing ever goes wrong in your life. If this is your claim I’m calling bullshit on it right now.
5. Binge watch Netflix.
…We all have got something on Netflix that we would love to binge watch all day. I know for me personally it’s The Vampire Diaries.
6. Wander around Barnes and Noble.
…Not only is it like one of the greatest stores ever, but there are tons of books for you to discover! Right now, I’m eyeing the The Maze Runner Collection.
7. Clean house.
…I know what you’re probably thinking, there is nothing fun about cleaning house. This may be true but if we are all being honest with ourselves, there is a lot of things we can and should get rid of around the house. Why not use this free time to do just that? Plus, you’re getting in a good cardio workout at the same time! Talk about a double whammy!
8. People watch.
…Seriously you can learn so much about people in 5 minutes by simply watching them, then you ever could by engaging in a 5-minute conversation with them.
9. Exercise.
…Seriously it’s hard enough finding the time to work on your physical health. Take advantage of the down time and get your booty moving. I love to do a PITT28 workout when I actually have the time to commit to doing it.
10. Nap throughout the day.
…I know I can’t be the only one who misses out on a lot of sleep due to school, work, and the kids (or whatever combination best describes your life). Sleep when you can. Naps are not just for toddlers. Rest up beauties, we deserve it.
11. Walk around Target.
…Not only is it my favorite store, but we all know that something we may or may not need will catch our eye while walking around Target. If you haven’t rewarded yourself in a while, this is the perfect opportunity and excuse to do so.
12. Say fuck it.
…Be lazy. You’ve earned it and if productivity just doesn’t sound like a legit thing to do for the day then don’t be productive. Keep your pajamas on, skip the shower (maybe?), kick your feet up, and be the proud coach potato you are. The Tv will always be happy to be your only friend for the day!
I mean these by no means are the only 12 things you can do on days when you are loaded with nothing but free time. No one says you have to do them, and if I’m being honest, even on a good day I probably won’t do any of them (probably). Instead I’ll probably just write a blog post about 12 things you can do on days when you have nothing else to do.
Sometimes days like these are the best days ever! To take it all in! Soak it all up! Eventually they will only be memories of the good old days.
…Now if I can just remember where I left the TV remote…
-Xo
