January 21, 2017 was a big day for women, supporters of women’s rights, the younger generation, and the future of humanity.
It was the day that many men, women, and even children from all walks of life, all over the world came together to stand, protest, and fight for women’s rights. Something women have been fighting for, for many years now.
And it was a truly beautiful and honest thing to see with the full support of men and children right by our side.
This day will have an impact on the future in many different ways. Such as in how men and women identify themselves as individuals in this world. How men and women look, view, appreciate, and value one another as equals. There will most certainly be an impact on not only the many different generations that are present today, but also on the future generations that are yet to come. This day will instill in everyone who participated and supported the march, the importance of equality and the beauty of our differences.
Because there is something to be embraced and appreciated about our differences.
I was not able to participate in the march due to other commitments, but words cannot explain how happy, proud, appreciative, and thankful I am for those who did.
This moment, this movement, this march was about protecting our women. Protecting our mothers, our sisters, our aunts, our grandmothers, our daughters, our nieces, our cousins, our neighborhoods, and our friends. It was about taking a stand, making a point, and protecting future generations from having to grow up in a world where women are the inferior sex, the inferior race.
This movement was about making our voices heard once again, but this time louder than it has been in the past. With the help of many men and many children who love and support women, this march took place all over the world.
And it was in waves. So many people showed up and took a stand.
The most beautiful part about this march is that it was not a moment of publicity. It was not a moment selfishness, or promotion of something negative. It was a moment that painted the reality of the world that we live in, and the world we will continue to live in if we continue to not take responsibility for our actions in this world.
It was a moment of unity, honesty, and respect for our fellow neighbors. A reminder that we are all human and deserve to be treated and respected as one.
We all come from different walks of life from different parts of the world. I see no shame in that. I love and respect everybody who makes up this beautiful world. It does not matter to me what part of this world you come from, what religious practices or beliefs you uphold, the color of your skin, your sex, your gender, none of it matters.
I love that this world is made up of various shades, colors, shapes, and sizes. I value the fact that we all see the world in different angles. It brings new perspective to the world, a reminder that no one way is the right way. Our differences make this world such a beautiful and interesting place to live in. And if we try to wash away that diversity and let one single standard or norm dominate, then we lose so much beauty in this world.
This march was about protecting, embracing, and adding more diversity to this world. I love the many shades of blues and greens, but I also love the browns, and the greys. I love every shade that this world has to offer and I want to protect that color palette.
I love the imperfect circle that we have come to know as Earth, but I also love the imperfect squares and rectangles. I love that we all chase after the American Dream, but I love even more that we are brave and courageous enough to let the American Dream be what we say it is.
And that’s how it should be. Life gives us lemons and we all make lemonade in our own unique ways.
And I choose to believe that those who participated in this march want to protect the diversity that is present and ever growing as well.
I watched many videos with powerful women who we often see in the media, give powerful speeches on the importance of protecting the female race. They were moving, they were honest and truthful, and most importantly they were hopeful.
I know a lot of the world chooses to believe that we are living in dark times now, and that the next four years will be some of the darkest years on this earth yet to date. But I encourage you all to think positively. Our thoughts fuel our emotions, which fuel our actions. If we continue to come together for important, life changing events such as this, then we will be the light that shines over the entire world for the next four years.
I just wanted to write this quick little post. I had to get these emotions off my chest. My heart has been so heavy for the past few months because like most I have been living in fear of what the future will provide for me. What the future will provide for the younger generation.
This march gave me hope. I saw the many men and women of all ages, all genders, and all races coming together to fight for what they believe in. I saw this and felt a thousand different emotions. Because it was a beautiful thing to see and it instilled hope in me for the future.
Those emotions were a reminder that this is real. This is real life, this is a real cause, these people are real and they truly believe in the power of continuing to move forward in history, not backwards.
And that alone was enough hope and inspiration for any fear that I felt to melt away.
We are the future and together we will determine what direction these next four years will go. And I pray that this mindset will always be the perspective we choose to take no matter who our leaders are.
We are the people. The people make up the world we live in.
And I am so proud and thankful for those who are standing their ground proudly to ensure that these next four years will be teachable, activating years.
Thank you to all who participated and supported this movement. Remember to love harder than anyone can hate. I truly believe that in the end love conquers all.
